RACING AND HIGH-PERFORMANCE PARTS

We have been racing Corvettes since February 1964. We built our first frame-up Corvette racecar in 1982. Since then we have continued to develop these cars and parts to their maximum potential. Today vintage Corvette racing eclipses racing back in the day in both competition and in sheer numbers. In 1972 SCCA had a virtual monopoly on amateur racing, but today more than 50 sanctioning bodies promote vintage races throughout the country. Duntov Motor Company can be found at the largest of these events with our cars competing for the win just as we did back in the day. Only today’s budgets are higher and the competition at the top is deeper, and no less fierce. The biggest vintage races today have more fans in attendance than ever watched an SCCA race. Every year we compete in at least three races with more than 300 entries each. Only at the peak of the SCCA Runoffs and the June Sprints did amateur road racing achieve those numbers, and then only for those two events.

As recently as the 1980’s, top level Trans-Am cars were towed to the races by pickups in open trailers. Today all the top cars in vintage racing arrive in NASCAR style haulers supported by teams of professionals. Our technical director is Tony Dowe who, in capacities ranging from Chief Mechanic to Chief Designer to Technical Director, has won the Indianapolis 500, LeMans (three times) and was Technical Director for two Formula One teams. Our Chief Mechanic and Chief Fabricator is John Farnsworth, who as Crew Chief won the World Challenge Championship and an SCCA National Championship. Tony and John are with us at many of our vintage races and both of these professionals have been involved in the development and refinement of the racing parts listed in this section.
