REM treatment is a physicochemical process that uses high density, non abrasive ceramic media and vibratory finishing equipment to achieve an almost mirror like finish. The process removes microscopic surface asperities that are inherent in any machining process. The resultant part looks like it is chrome plated, but nothing is added to the part’s surface.
